Cookie Policy

Which cookies and browser-storage technologies this site uses, what they do, how long they are kept and how you can manage them. Last updated: 15 September 2026.

What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser when you visit a website. It allows the site to remember something on your next visit — the language you chose, for example.

Browsers also offer other storage areas that work like cookies. One of them, sessionStorage, lives only for as long as the tab is open and is erased by the browser when the tab is closed. This policy covers both the cookies and these storage areas used on the site.

First party or third party? First-party cookies are set by ionmeccanica.com itself. Third-party cookies belong to another domain and are typically used for cross-site tracking. There are no third-party cookies on this site.

Cookies Used on This Site

Only two cookies are set on this site, and both are first-party:

CookieWhat it does
site_lang
Strictly necessary / functional
Retention: 1 year
Stores the language you are browsing in (TR/EN) and is used to send you to the right language version when you open an address without a language prefix. Its value is only "TR" or "EN" — it carries no identifier and cannot be used to track your visit.
ion_cerez_onay
Strictly necessary
Retention: 180 days
Stores the decision you made on the cookie consent card. It holds only the value "accept" or "decline" and carries no identifier. It is created only if you made a choice on the card — if you did not, it is never written.
admin_session
Strictly necessary
Retention: 7 days
Created only for authorised staff who sign in to the admin panel, to keep the session open. It is signed and readable only by the server (HttpOnly). It is never created for ordinary visitors.

Apart from these, Google Analytics cookies (_ga and the like) can be set only if you have given consent; see the Cookie Consent section below.

Browser Storage (sessionStorage)

For visit measurement to work correctly, three entries are kept in your browser's tab storage. These are not cookies: they are not sent to the server on their own and they are erased when you close the tab.

EntryWhat it does
ion_oturum
ion_oturum_ts
Retention: until the tab is closed, or after 30 minutes of inactivity
A random number and a last-activity timestamp, generated so that the pages you visit in one sitting can be counted as a single session. It is not linked to your identity.
ion_kampanya
Retention: until the tab is closed
If you arrived through an advertisement or campaign link, this remembers the campaign tags in that link (utm_source and the like) for the duration of your visit, so that we can see which channel drew interest.

Cookieless Visit Measurement

To understand which pages attract interest we run a measurement on our own infrastructure. No third-party measurement tool (Google Analytics or similar) is used, and this measurement sets no cookies at all.

What is recorded: the page viewed and its title, time spent on the page, how much of the page was seen, the site language, where you came from and any campaign tags, device type, browser and operating system, screen width, and the country, region and city reported by our hosting provider.

The identifier used to tell visitors apart is an irreversible digest of your IP address and browser signature taken together with a secret value that changes every day. The raw IP address is not stored. Because that value changes daily, the same person receives a new identifier the next day; nobody can be tracked across days. Records are kept for at most 400 days and are then deleted.

The legal basis for this measurement and your rights are explained in the Privacy Policy.

Cookies We Do Not Use

For transparency, here is what this site does not have:

  • no advertising or retargeting cookies
  • no social media tracking pixels
  • no third-party cookies that build a personal profile or track you across sites
  • data obtained through cookies is never sold or rented to third parties

Google Analytics is not in use at present. Should it be enabled in the future it will run only if you give consent; until you do, not a single request reaches Google (see the Cookie Consent section below).

Cookie Consent

Consent is required for cookies that are not strictly necessary for the site to work. The Turkish Data Protection Authority's Guidelines on Cookie Practices, and its EU counterpart in Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, exempt from the consent requirement those cookies that are strictly necessary to provide the service you requested, and functional cookies that remember a choice you made.

The two cookies listed above, and the tab-storage entries, fall within that exemption and do not depend on your consent: they are needed for the site to work and to remember the language you chose, they carry no identifier and they serve no tracking purpose. Visit measurement is cookieless and therefore requires no consent either.

The only technology that requires consent is Google Analytics. Because the gtag script writes a cookie that recognises a visitor over a long period the moment it loads, it does not fall within the "strictly necessary" exemption. Google Analytics therefore never loads before you give consent; without consent, not a single request reaches Google. When consent is needed, a small card appears in the corner of the screen; the "Accept" and "Decline" options are the same size and equally legible.

You can change your decision at any time: the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of the page reopens the card. When you withdraw consent the measurement script stops running and any Google Analytics cookies already set (_ga, _gid and the like) are deleted from your browser.

Your decision itself is stored for 180 days in a cookie named ion_cerez_onay, holding only the value "accept" or "decline". Since storing consent does not itself require consent, this cookie is also treated as strictly necessary. When the period expires the card reappears so that you can refresh your decision.

How to Manage Cookies

You can view, delete or block cookies at any time from your browser settings, usually found under Privacy and Security:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Site data
  • Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Please note: if you block the site_lang cookie the site still works, but your language preference is not remembered and you will be sent to the default language for your country every time you open an address without a language prefix. You can change the language at any time using the TR / EN switch at the top of the page.

A Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser requires no separate action on this site: there is no tracking, advertising cookie or sale of data for it to apply to.

Personal Data and Changes to This Policy

The legal basis on which we process data through cookies and measurement, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and your rights under the KVKK and the GDPR are set out in detail in the Privacy Policy.

This policy is updated whenever the cookies used on the site change; the version in force is always published on this page.
